I'll have you know that it is *S*N*O*W*I*N*G* outside my window right now! What the What?! I feel that it should be a law of nature that it cannot snow after Easter. Who's with me?
Winter:
NOT Winter:
Good:
Bad:
Now that THAT'S all cleared up I hope we can move along without any more snow.

All About Aperture...
I have a wonderful friend who is just beginning the fun [read frustrating] adventure of learning to work her DSLR. She asked me a question about aperture the other day that I remember being really confused for way too long about myself, so I thought I would post a little bit about it.
She wanted to know exactly what the depth of field was for a 1.8f vs. a 22f.
Because I love a good example, I am posting several photos here with the information under it.
As you can see there is a huge difference between a 1.8f and a 22f...but not so much between a 10f and a 22f.
I hope this helps!
If this didn't answer her (or YOUR) question- let me know. If I know the answer- I'll post it. If I don't I'll see what I can do to find it! =D
1.8f Shutter speed 1/8000 ISO 125 50MM
4.5f Shutter Speed 1/1250 ISO 125 50MM
10f Shutter Speed 1/250 ISO 125 50MM
22f Shutter Speed 1/50 ISO 125 50MM

25 and over need not apply...or rent...
Monday was Peanut's birthday.
Because it is Spring Break, we decided to have a little practice run for the upcoming season of summer fun Mondays.
Bein' the good aunt, I chose to let him dictate the day. If you were a brand new 11 year old what would you choose to do??? Why, go to Classic Skating of course!
So we did.
hmmm....
We pull up and yes friends, it's just as classy now as it was in 1985.
Oh- and don't you be thinkin' for one minute that it is only the sight that hasn't changed.
NOPE.
smells and sounds are all there too. That lovely aroma of old gym shoes mixed with carpet that needed to be pulled up and replaced years ago, and just a dash of popcorn and hotdogs from the snack shack.
The disco lights that drop down from the ceiling, and house lights go down as the DJ croons into the microphone "This one goes out to the couples out there. Couples only on the floor, please. Couples only", and Berlin's Take my Breath Away sounds through the speakers.
Yep. It's all still there.
Classic Skating hasn't changed, but we sure have....
Now when it comes to summer fun Monday adventures, Denise, Grandma Kay, and I don't want to simply be spectators. Skate rentals for us too? Oh- you bet cha!
I had not even finished lacing my skates up when I realized there was a major issue at hand. One look over at Denise, and I knew she felt it too.
Either they have changed roller skates sometime in the past like 25 years...or we have lost the roller skating vibe.
RIDING A BIKE MY EYE!!!!!
I get that we probably should have actually paid attention to the TV screen when the "Patrons over the age of 25 are strongly encouraged not to skate" flashed by, but surely the didn't mean US!
They meant us.
...and probably you too. ;)
If, however, you chose to ignore the sign, and make the skate rental decision....
1) I wish you luck in your attempt at faking the funk, and
2)please take pictures and send them to me. :)
